A Light Derive
Tuesday 28 October
19:00 – 21:00
Canada Water Station (Jubilee Line Main Entrance)
Dress warm & dry with comfortable shoes
This two hour linear walk will take participants from the heart of Canada Water to the dark fringes of Mile End Park. Its purpose is to examine the way that artificial light orders our experience of urban space. Artificial light has a crucial role in city and this walk seeks to explore the found images that these often unplanned and unforeseen combinations can produce.
The walk starts in one of the most surveilled locations in London and ambles its way up river and down canal through spaces and architectures that are at vastly different scales. Along this journey we will pause to reflect upon the lit scenes that we occupy and are forced to engage with in our daily experience.
